September 1st 2014 : Creating a Blog!

Hello everyone - Sheila Whittaker of Healing Sound here! I am happy to be connecting with you on this new Blog site. For some time I have been wanting to add a Blog, and for the moment the best solution seems to be a Blog site separate from my main website www.healing-sound.co.uk So here we are, and I hope you enjoy my periodic writings on topics to do with Gongs, Sound Healing, my violin work, particularly with the Pandia Duo, and anything else of interest which I feel inspired to write about. I will also be adding a small Shop so that you can buy CD's and books here without having to go to the main website. That's still at the construction stage at present.. But watch this space.

Here in the UK it's coming to the end of a wonderful summer. We've been blessed with some pretty good weather here this year, and are all feeling much better for some welcome sunshine. Autumn now approaches, and consequently things start getting quite busy for me with workshops starting again after a quieter period during July and August. Not that things ever stop when you work for yourself as other self-employed people will testify. My students still email and send me coursework to read through, and this summer in particular I seem to have had a lot of things happening, getting this site off the ground being one of them.

Pandia has been rehearsing regularly throughout the summer too, and we've been finding new pieces to add to our growing musical repertoire. This often means adding a second part or re-arranging the music so that it can be played by two instruments, which is my job, so I've been kept quite busy musically this summer. The result is that Robin and I now have a good selection of pieces we can draw upon for our concerts and we have been fortunate in finding some really wonderful gems of early music. We've also added one or two new instruments - Robin recently bought a super Sopranino recorder which is delightful, and I will shortly be playing the violina - a five-string violin - in a few of our new pieces.

Our next appearance is on Thursday 4th this week at 10.30am at the United Free Church in Totnes, where we'll be playing informally while people drop in for coffee and a chat - do call in if you're around. We specialise in playing music from the medieval, renaissance and baroque periods as well as traditional music from various countries, and some modern compositions in the same vein.
